How the chart works

Played Weekly ranks eligible tracks by distinct first-party listener IDs during a completed Monday-to-Sunday week, measured in UTC. We check the completed week daily from Monday at 06:00 UTC. A published edition is a dated snapshot.

What counts

A listen qualifies after at least 30 seconds of actual audio advancement in a Played player. Paused time, buffering and seeking do not count. One listener ID counts once per track per week. Repeat listening on a second day breaks ties; a stable track ID resolves any remaining tie.

What is eligible

A track must be public, playable, on a live storefront and have the artist’s recorded confirmation of publishing rights. Artist self-listens, signed-in staff/test activity, and operator/demo/test catalogs are excluded. Artists can opt out from their dashboard. Paid Featured placement and plan level contribute no points.

When we publish

We collect and review two full weeks of data before enabling publication. Each edition needs a full collected week, at least 10 tracks across 5 artists, 5 qualified listener IDs per track and 50 distinct IDs across qualifying tracks. We publish up to 20 positions. A week below these thresholds does not produce a new edition. The latest published edition stays available; before the first edition, the chart page links to music discovery.

What the numbers mean

Listener IDs represent browser contexts, not verified individual people. Different devices, embedded sites or cleared cookies can create new IDs; shared devices can combine listeners. Browsers that block listening cookies may not contribute to counts. Signed IDs, request caps and server checks reduce abuse but cannot eliminate it. These are listening charts, not sales or revenue charts. External purchase clicks are not completed purchases.

Privacy and changes

We use a first-party listener cookie, hashed IDs, playback surface and limited arrival information. We do not store raw IP addresses with listens. Daily network hashes support rate limits. Detailed listening records expire after 90 days; chart snapshots retain aggregate counts. Saved tracks stay in your browser. If music is withdrawn, its original chart position is not reassigned.
