About Bairro Azul
Bairro Azul makes afro house for the end of the night rather than the middle of it. Congas and hand drums recorded in a tiled stairwell for the room sound, a fretless bass played slightly behind the beat, marimba kept muted so it sits under everything instead of on top. The drum machine is analogue and slightly out of time, and it is left that way. Made in a flat in Almada with the window open onto the river, and sold straight to the people who dance to it.
