About Ivy Deacon
Ivy Deacon makes house the way it was made before anyone tidied it up: a Roland piano stab left slightly too loud, a gospel vocal cut down to three syllables and looped until it stops meaning anything, and live congas played over a drum machine rather than replacing it. The swing is borrowed from UK garage and she refuses to quantise it out. Recorded in a railway arch in south London and sold direct.
